Busan!! (Day 2)

On our second day in Busan, we went to the 자갈치시장 (Jagalchi Fish Market). This area is the largest collection of fish markets in the entire country. There was just soo much to see. There were all different kinds of fish in tanks. With the luxury of being so close to the water, majority of the fish were alive and kicking.

                                  Look at those octopus!

Everything is just so fresh!

Delicious lobster!

We all got to enjoy some 산낙지 (fresh octopus chopped up). I was hoping the pieces would still be moving, but they weren't.... still, it tasted great ^^

This is the view from behind the fish market. You are directly on the pier. Being so close to the ocean, I was reminded of home....

"He's got the whole world in His hands!"

After the fish market, we were dropped at 센텀시티 (Centum City), a 14 story shopping complex which included the world's largest Shinsegae Department Store. Apart from all the shopping, there is a movie theatre, a golf course, and an ice rink within the building!

Right next to the food park is the ice rink. Perhaps it was because it was a Saturday, but there seemed to be very many families and children here.

This was the second level of the movie theatre, perhaps for those who wanted "star" treatment?? heehee The second floor seemed to be for specialized movies, like 3-D, 4-D, and IMAX.

After walking around the large complex for a few hours, we headed back to the hostel for some rest.

That evening, with a desire to eat sushi, we headed out to 해운대 (Haeundae) again.

For dinner, we ate 회비빔밥 (bibimbap- rice mixed with vegetables and red pepper paste, which included fresh fish). This was as close as we could get to getting sushi without breaking our wallets the second night. Still, it was good.

Saturday night, there was a music festival hosted by the music department of a local college. Some of the performances were amazing, and some could have been better. This was a great way of having free entertainment. All the students seemed to be having a lot of fun. I was glad they didn't limit their performance to one style of music. They covered everything, Korean and English, pop, musical theatre, funk, r&b, reggae, soft rock, rock, etc. They even performed songs they wrote themselves! There was one silly one in particular about bugs....

Inspired to sing ourselves, we headed out to find a 노래방 (karaoke place, NRB).
First 노래방 experience in Korea! Having so much fun!

I think the biggest surprise of the night was how well Tran knew the Korean songs, even though she couldn't read Korean. She basically had all the songs memorized! Pretty awesome!
